Strategic Support Team
“If I had the strength, I’d go to every outreach,” says Janet Tuinstra. “Reaching out into the rural corners of Eswatini with medical and spiritual care, with a message of hope and healing, is unlike anything imaginable.”
Janet appreciates those in North America who keep TLC in their prayers and keep giving of their finances. “You’re part of something big Jesus is doing, but not so big that the individual isn’t still uppermost in His mind. It’s difficult to preserve the passion when you are not here to see and feel and marvel, but it’s possible. We know those who started with TLC years ago, and we value their continued, active participation.”
Janet photographs and writes about Eswatini and people - patients, staff, partners, donors - who touch and are touched by The Luke Commission. “It’s a joy and a privilege,” she said.
Janet and her husband Kalvin joined the VanderWals and the fledging Luke Commission, when Echo came home in 2004 and declared: “Mom and Dad, you have to come to Eswatini with us. That’s where God wants us!”
Her prayer for her grown children, their spouses, and 16 grandchildren is simply: “They follow Jesus.”
