TLC Statement of Fact Regarding False Employment Allegations

22 May 2026 | Sidvokodvo, Eswatini

The Luke Commission (TLC) notes false reports circulating online alleging that an individual was dismissed for requesting a salary increase.

The allegation is materially inaccurate.

The individual referenced was still undergoing induction and had not been employed by TLC for an extended period of time.

During this period, TLC provided multiple support interventions relating to personal and financial challenges, including requests for financial assistance relating to pre-existing debt obligations that predated his engagement with TLC. In addition to remuneration, the support package included accommodation with water and electricity, meals, medical care, and ongoing daily support on campus as part of the inclusion and support arrangement.

The individual ultimately chose not to continue with the engagement after indicating that alternative income opportunities outside TLC were more financially beneficial for his circumstances.

At no point was any employment-related decision taken because of a request for increased pay or because of disability, and the individual was not terminated as alleged.

Over the past two decades, TLC has employed and supported many individuals living with disabilities, who remain an important and valued part of the institution and its mission of serving vulnerable communities. TLC remains committed to inclusive employment practices and support for vulnerable individuals within its operational capacity.

Relevant stakeholders, including the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, were kept appropriately informed throughout the process as part of a broader, coordinated support and engagement effort.

It is also important to note that, at the time of publication, TLC has no formal grievance or appeal on record matching the claims made in the article, and the official records on file do not align with the version of events being reported.

TLC encourages any staff member with workplace concerns or grievances to utilise established internal processes as the appropriate first step toward review, engagement, and resolution of such matters.

As a matter of policy and legal prudence, TLC does not litigate personnel matters through social media platforms or public online exchanges. Accordingly, this statement is limited to correcting materially inaccurate public claims while respecting appropriate confidentiality and personnel processes.

TLC reserves all rights available to it in relation to the publication and circulation of materially false, misleading, or defamatory information.
